I recognize that when I am talking to a potential client this is an unspoken question. I can say anything, but it is my actions over time that tell the truth.
I like the Trust Triangle model by Frances Frei and Anne Morriss.
1. Authenticity - I experience the real you.
2. Empathy - I believe you care about me and my success.
3. Logic - I know you can do it. Your reasoning or judgment are sound.
When I am developing pay communications so an employer can be more transparent with their salary ranges, incentives, and pay decision making process, I know that trust is critical.
Today I am writing communications for an amazing employer.
* They tell the truth.
* Their decision making process is sound and explainable.
* They answer the difficult questions with a focus on the employee's perspective..."what's in it for me?"
* And they are smart about sharing the state of the business so the employees know they can't get everything they want right now.
Sounds simple. It takes time and effort to create this type of culture. And trust exists because of how the senior leadership team shows up.
If you long to show up this way as an employer and are focused on building a pay foundation based on trust and transparency, we should talk.
