Mutual Success: Aligning Employee and Employer Wants

February 12, 2024 Denise Liebetrau

What do employees want from their employer?

·        Financial stability

·        To be paid competitively and equitably (fairly)

·        To know how to increase their earnings and how pay decisions are made

·        To be recognized for the value and results they create

·        Growth and learning opportunities for career progression

·        A great manager to work for and colleagues they like

·        To be able to show up each day as their authentic self (aka to belong)

·        Flexibility on where they work

What do employers want from their employees?

·        Employees creating value and results for their customers

·        Financial stability and revenue growth that meets business goals

·        Labor cost within budget and ability to plan effectively

·        Employee retention, attraction, and productivity

·        Employees working in the office instead of at home

This exchange must be mutually beneficial.

If you don’t know what your employees want, ask them. And don’t make assumptions or you are likely to be surprised.
