Writing Compensation Project Proposals

September 5, 2024 Denise Liebetrau

I just finished writing a proposal for a potential new employer client. I like the process of learning about what an employer is trying to accomplish.

Usually, a compensation project is related to attracting and retaining the talent needed to meet the organization’s goals.

It may also include the need to comply with pay transparency and equity related laws .So, a roadmap that takes them from where they are today to where they want to be in 1 – 3 years is a deliverable.

And often it also means adjusting the employer’s base salary ranges and target incentives to align to the external market while also balancing internal equity.

Then there is the summarization of the impacts on employees and budget, so the decisions are well thought out prior to implementation.

And finally, there is the change management, training, and communications planning and development of resources to support that plan which needs to be done.

If this is something you’ve been thinking about for your employer, let’s talk. I am assigning myself and my team to projects for the rest of this year.
