Today I am celebrating the 5th year anniversary of opening my business, Prosper Consulting. I am incredibly proud of this accomplishment and am grateful for my team, friends, former colleagues, business coaches, referral partners, and many others who contributed to this milestone. And for those of you who know me, you won’t be surprised that I researched the failure rate of small businesses.
According to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, as reported by Fundera, approximately 20 percent of small businesses fail within the first year. By the end of the second year, 30 percent of businesses will have failed. By the end of the fifth year, about half will have failed. And by the end of ten years, only 30 percent of businesses will remain — a 70 percent failure rate.
I believe in celebrating success and planning for the future. That means that I am looking back at the services I offered when I started Prosper and am planning on how I want to have an impact in the future. My team and I focus on maximizing the profit and impact employers can have on their key stakeholders as trusted advisors on HR, compensation, and leadership issues. We are also recommitting to our Vision, Mission, and Values.
Vision: We create prosperity one interaction at a time.
Mission: We enable the full potential in others to improve workplaces and the lives of our clients.
