The Gift of Closure

April 3, 2022 Denise Liebetrau

There are a lot of disappointments in life.

Someone you trust isn't acting in a way that is aligned to your expectations. They make mistakes. Intentional or not intentional.

A colleague isn't taking accountability for their part in a misstep at work. And you are frustrated or angry because they don't have the self-awareness or capacity to admit it.

You fire someone or you get fired. It's painful and difficult.

You're dating someone and they ghost you.

You long for closure, mutuality, and understanding.

You want to talk to that other person and have them admit they were part of the problem. And that isn't possible.

You have a choice. Continue to focus on the other person's inability to help you get the closure you desire.

Or accept what happened. Grieve. And move forward. Live your life with a focus on your values and meeting your own needs.

Let go. Give yourself the gift of closure.

And happiness arrives.
