I was talking to an executive coaching client recently. They asked, “What is the most important ability I should be looking for when I interview candidates to join my team?”
I said, “The ability to learn.”
He said, “And that should be followed closely with the ability to embrace change, be flexible and adapt.”
I agree.
So, what have you learn recently? And what change have you embraced and adapted to?
It is easy to stay comfortable and do what you’ve always done.
You become more interesting to others when you have something new to share.
Your mind has something different to focus on when you accept change and focus your attention on growing and learning.
What is stopping you? Your thoughts. Your other priorities. Distractions. Other people’s expectations. Your internal dialogue.
Try this activity. For the next week write down three things each day that you want. At the end of the seven days, you will have a list of 21 things that you want. They may be an activity, an experience, a feeling or emotion, or something that you’ve been longing for.
What do you need to learn to have the #1 priority on that list? What change do you need to embrace?
Who do you need to become?
Say “yes” to be uncomfortable. Life is short. You aren’t guaranteed tomorrow.
