Am I underpaid?

1 - Compare your total compensation (base pay + bonus or sales incentive + LTI/equity) to what other employers are paying for similar work. Are you paid near the 50th percentile?

2 - Ask your manager or HR what factors they use to determine where to pay you within the base salary range. They should say years of relevant experience, your performance, job-related education/training, seniority/tenure, and/or geographic location. If they can’t tell you this with confidence, that’s a red flag.

3 - Also, ask your employer what their compensation philosophy is if it is not published. This will tell you if your comparison to the 50th percentile is appropriate or not.
