Do you trust the data you pull from your systems? Do you spend a lot of time cleaning up data to make it easy to use in your analyses?
My team and I spend a lot of time cleaning up employee and job data from various systems.
We spend time trying to figure out why the job title on the job description document isn’t the same as the job title of the employee in the HCM system.
We spend time figuring out why the grade assigned to the job and the grade assigned to the employee are different. Or the base salary range numbers in the HCM system are different than the master spreadsheet base salary range numbers we were given.
We spend time determining why the grades don’t sort in order in Excel. Oh, the alpha and numeric labels must be manually moved to be in the right low to high order.
We spend time connecting fields from one Excel file to another because the data we need isn’t stored in ADP, Workday, etc. Or we spend time asking why fields are blank for a few employees but filled for others. We fill in the blank fields in our Excel file but in the “system of record” it is not fixed.
We spend time fixing Mgr so it is spelled out as Manager or Dir is changed to Director.
Fix. Your. Data.
The value we add is our ability to analyze your data and share the story it tells.
That helps you make smart business decisions around what to budget, what to pay, what to fix in your processes, and what to design differently to attract, retain, and keep your employees productive.
None of you have the headcount you need to match the workload you are given. Taking the time to fix your data is critical to being efficient and accurate.
And if you need help fixing your data, let’s talk.
