Graduation Advice

May 18, 2022 Denise Liebetrau

If you had to speak at a graduation, what would you say?

Here’s my 2 cents.

Every decision you make is going to impact your health, your relationships, and money. Choose wisely.

Develop your personal definition of success. And focus on that instead of what family, friends and society expect.

Go to therapy.

Always wear sunscreen.

Read.

The one constant is change.

Let go of what you can’t control. (You can’t control most things.)

Don't work so hard.

Prioritize having fun, play, and joy.

Have the difficult conversations. Waiting doesn't make it easier.

Stay in touch with friends. You're gonna need them.

Go for a walk.

Let yourself be happy. Happiness is a choice.

Take naps.

Relationships determine the quality of your life. Conversations determine the quality of your relationships.

Let yourself feel your feelings fully.

Your needs matter as much as anyone else’s needs.
